THE CANOPY - ACOUSTIC literally picks up where the EP released in 2016 (The Canopy) left off and eminently shows the stratification that the title suggests. The album features a number of previously released songs in stripped-down form. “By re-recording the pieces, in an intimate setting, I wanted to get even closer to the essence; the purity of the songs, the story. By not hiding behind other instruments, the songs get even closer to me, ”said Thomson, who went back to the core by focusing on her guitar and voice. She also added two of her favourite covers on this album: 'Don't let go' by En Vogue en 'Jolene' by Dolly Parton together with a brand new original gem called 'Home'.

The album was very well received and picked up by international blogs such as Music Week (UK), Guestlist (UK) and Clash Magazine (UK).

Marle Thomson is a story teller. Personal stories that are universal at the same time and therefore very recognizable. Her songs deal with themes such as the courage to show vulnerability, the processing of loss, self-acceptance and the courage to let go, without becoming heavy. There is always hope and room for a new beginning. Her voice and songs contain deep layering, a mix of strength and fragility. Or a so-called "saudade" a sense of desire and melancholy, which her audience is touched by.
